Veterinarian

Mason Dixon Animal Emergency Hospital is seeking full-time and part-time emergency veterinarians to join our team.

Conveniently located in Shrewsbury, PA, our emergency veterinary hospital provides critical after-hours pet care for northern Baltimore County and southern York County, as well as surrounding areas in Maryland and Pennsylvania. We love both working and living in the Mason Dixon community – our vets drive home to Stewartstown, White Hall, and Lancaster. We’re not owned by a large corporation like many other ER vets and emergency pet centers. We’re women-owned and locally-owned, and we’re proud of it. 

We opened the doors of our 6200 sq ft facility on June 1, 2020 – at the height of the pandemic. Despite the stresses of the world around us, we have grown quickly and are in need of additional veterinarians to join our 24/7 pet ER. 

Applicants should possess a team player mentality, the desire to provide excellent patient care as well as a commitment to client communication. Applicants should be able to work nights, weekends and holidays. Our schedule is designed with several days off to allow personal time and your desired lifestyle. Experience in emergency and critical care, as well as surgery, is preferred, but not required.

Veterinary Technician Shift Lead – Emergency Medicine

Up to $30/hour + $5,000 Annual Leadership Stipend
Full-time or Part-time | Shrewsbury, PA | On-site

Mason Dixon Animal Emergency Hospital is currently seeking a skilled and compassionate Veterinary Technician Shift Lead to join our dynamic emergency team. This position is ideal for an experienced technician who is ready to take on a leadership role, fully utilize their clinical skills, and help shape a positive, collaborative team culture in a fast-paced ER environment.

What You’ll Do

As a Veterinary Technician Shift Lead, you’ll serve as both a clinical team member and a key
support to the hospital’s operations by:

  • Leading and supporting a team of veterinary technicians during assigned shifts
  • Overseeing patient flow and case management alongside veterinarians
  • Facilitating strong communication and collaboration across departments
  • Providing mentorship and hands-on training to team members
  • Supporting a culture of accountability, empathy, and continuous improvement
  • Participating in operational leadership initiatives as part of a developing leadership team

 

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in veterinary medicine, preferably, but not required, in
    an emergency or critical care setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to stay calm and organized in high-pressure environments
  • Experience with conflict resolution, delegation, and workflow management
  • Availability for 12-hour shifts, including overnights, holidays, and every-other-weekend
  • A collaborative, solutions-oriented, and adaptable mindset

Preferred Traits:

  • Grit and dedication to the mission of emergency care
  • A humble, growth-oriented approach to leadership
  • Ability to lead by example while supporting peers
  • A positive and professional presence with clients and team members

We are not a fit for candidates who:

  • Demonstrate rigidity or unwillingness to adapt to different teams, shifts, or feedback
  • Have a history of unprofessional behavior (bullying, ghosting, or lack of accountability)\
  • Prioritize ego over team well-being

 

Compensation & Benefits

  • Compensation: Up to $30/hour, commensurate with experience
  • Leadership Stipend: Up to $5,000 annually for shift lead responsibilities

Receptionist

We are interested in both full-time and part-time receptionists, preferably those who have experience in emergency veterinary medicine. Candidates should possess excellent communication skills - especially when dealing with upset/emotional owners. Candidates must also be proficient in managing sales, maintaining an organized atmosphere, able to efficiently handle multiple phone lines, have basic computer skills, be comfortable working in a fast paced emergent setting, and possess a positive attitude.
